Boating & Cruising

Noosa River provides extensive boating opportunities.

Launching facilities are found at Tewantin by Noosa Harbour, Gympie Terrace next to the petrol station and at Munna Point inside the campsite. Laguna Bay provides a protected environment for fishing and other boating pleasures. However crossing Noosa Bar is a serious undertaking and must be done with extreme caution.

Boat hire is available at many locations on Gympie Terrace and at Noosa Harbour. A boating licence is not needed. Explore the beaches at the Frying Pan, cruise down the river to the lakes or stop at some of the restaurants on the river. The boat hire companies provide fishing rods and bait if you want to try your luck at fishing! Cataramans can be hired from Noosa Main Beach.

Jet Skiing is allowed opposite Gympie Terrace in a clearly marked area that is reserved exclusively for jet skis and can be hired from Gympie Terrace.

One of the most popular activities to do whilst in Noosa is take a river cruise to the Everglades. The cruise passes the township of Tewantin, past Makepeace Island recently bought by Richard Branson and across Lake Cooribah and Lake Cootharaba. You then enter the Everglades which are dark tranquil waterways providing perfect mirror reflections.
